Zlatan Ibrahimovic and James Wilson were surprise inclusions for the group games against Basel, Benfica and CSKA Moscow.
The 36-year-old, who has re-signed to United for another season, is continuing his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury that was expected to keep him out until January, while Wilson has only just returned from a long lay-off.
However, Rashford nor Lingard included, sparking fears they would play no part in the competition until February at the earliest, when clubs can submit a revised list for the second half of the campaign.
Clubs are required to hand in two lists to UEFA.
List A can contain a maximum of 25 players, two of whom should be keepers, but there must be no fewer than eight locally-trained players in their squad.
List B is for players born after January 1 1996, which must be submitted no later than 24 hours before a match.
The likes of Rashford and Jesse Lingard would qualify for List B.
